Future healthcare
The healthcare system in Stockholm County is facing major challenges. The ageing population and large-scale immigration into the county result in an increased need for care. How will Stockholmers continue to receive good and equal healthcare in the future? This is the challenge facing the ‘future healthcare’ project (Framtidens hälso- och sjukvård).
The plan for the future of healthcare in Stockholm is the biggest ever investment in healthcare. It involves all aspects of the healthcare system.
The purpose is that it will become easier to receive the right care at the right place and at the right time. This will be achieved by means of networks where the collaboration concerning the patient is to take place, and where family doctors, e-health and local healthcare provision will play an important role.
In the development work, the needs of the patient are of central importance, and the patient will be taken care of in such a way that creates the most value for them.
New forms of care alongside primary care will be established outside of the emergency hospitals, and will seamlessly form part of the network with the emergency hospitals, which will then receive a more clearly defined role. This also means that the skills of every individual staff member may be utilised in the best possible way.
The role of Stockholm County Healthcare Services in the future healthcare project
We have been commissioned by the Regional Assembly to participate in the development of ideas and care forms as one of the recipients of specialist care.
Collaboration with other care providers and municipalities is, of course, important, and is included in our development work. The objective is to create an offering that is based on the needs of the individual and with consideration to the best available knowledge within the area.
