Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) provides specialist care for children and young people up to the age of 18 with mental health problems. BUP offers support and treatment for the whole family.

There are 14 local clinics within the county. There are also four intermediate care units that reinforce the care provided at the local clinics when more intensive care is needed.

Children and young people with serious mental health problems such as severe depression, suicide attempts, serious eating disorders and psychosis come to the BUP clinic. The specialist units have expertise within specific fields such as sexual assault, family violence, migration-related problems, withdrawal symptoms and self-harming.

Research, education initiatives and systematic operational development are also carried out within BUP.
